The University of Melbourne (UoM) has a long and distinguished tradition of excellence in teaching and research. Its research programs are characterised by strong exchange and collaborative links with international and interstate universities. The University consistently wins the largest share of national competitive research funding.
We are committed to offering a teaching and learning environment of the highest quality. The Graduate Centre, in the heritage '1888 Building', provides postgraduates with excellent facilities for thesis production, short programs to enhance research and professional skills, and cafe areas.
The Melbourne Scholarships Program aims to attract to the University outstanding students from Victoria, interstate and overseas. In 2008, the University's postgraduate scholarship program includes ~180 Australian Postgraduate Awards (APAs), ~240 Melbourne Research Scholarships (MRSs/MIRSs), ~190 fee remission scholarships (IPRSs/MIFRSs), up to 10 Fay Marles Scholarships (FMSs) and Human Rights Scholarships (HRSs), and a number of prestiguous and travelling scholarships.
