Department of Industry, Innovation, Research and Science.

  • Previously know as Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST)
FMS

Fay Marles Scholarship

  • Previously called the Postgraduate Equity Scholarships
  • A University of Melbourne scholarship.
HECS

Higher Education Contribution Scheme
HRS

Human Rights Scholarship.

  • Previously a category of the FMS.
  • A University of Melbourne scholarship.
International student/applicant A students who is not an Australian or NZ citizen or an Australian permanent resident
IPRS Endeavour International Fee Remission Scholarship    
  • Provided by the Federal Government through DIISR.
  • A fee remission scholarship.
  • Conditions and entitlements are described in the 2008 conditions booklet for fee remission scholarships (please visit the MSO website or contact the office for details).
Local student/applicant A students who is an Australian or NZ citizen or an Australian permanent resident
MRS Melbourne Research Scholarship
  • A University of Melbourne scholarship awarded to local students.
  • From 2002, all MRSs are jointly-funded by the University and the faculty in which the student is undertaking their studies.
  • MRSs are sometimes termed a Faculty MRS
MIRS Melbourne International Research Scholarship      
  • An MRS awarded to an international student.        
  • Except for the relocation grant and relocation allowance, conditions for the MRS and MIRS are identical.
MIFRS Melbourne International Fee Remission Scholarship
  • A University of Melbourne scholarship.
  • A fee remission scholarship.
