Scholarships available to international students

The scholarships listed below are for international students1 to undertake studies at the University of Melbourne.  These scholarships are offered as part of the Melbourne Scholarships Program.

While not part of the Melbourne Scholarships Program, studentships are sometimes offered to international students.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia’s Melbourne Scholar Programme - for 2010 PhD commencements in Engineering

This scholarship is for staff in the early stages of their academic career at a university in Malaysia who (i) show outstanding promise and leadership potential and (ii) wish to undertake a PhD in Engineering at the University of Melbourne (Australia) in 2010.  Applicants must post a copy of their 'Application for Admission as an International Student at the University of Melbourne' and a copy of their CV to the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia by August 31, 2009 in order to be considered for this award.  View the Guidelines for benefits and application process.

The Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education Split-PhD Scholarship

Applications are now open for potential candidates interested in undertaking a split PhD program at The University of Melbourne, sponsored by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. Staff members of any Malaysian university are eligible to apply. The University of Melbourne Malaysia Australia Colombo Plan Commemoration (MACC) Scholarship - currently unavailable.

The MACC scholarship is co-funded by the Malaysian government and the University of Melbourne and provides a living allowance and OSHC and tuition fee coverage for PhD degree study at the University of Melbourne.  Malaysian citizens who have an unconditional offer to undertake a PhD will be automatically considered for this scholarship.  A separate application is not required and applicants do not need to lodge an expression of interest to the MACC in order to be considered.  For more details, visit the MACC website.
