Healthcare cover
The Australian Government requires all international students to join the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) scheme. OSHC Worldcare is the University of Melbourne’s current OSHC provider. At the time international students accept the offer of a place at the University of Melbourne they must pay the OSHC premium.

Payment and renewal of OSHC
The following information only applies to IPRS recipients as this is the only scholarship that covers OSHC.
From December 2005, the premium for the standard course duration (3 years for PhD, 18 months for masters by research) is paid by the University for all commencing IPRS recipients. If the course is extended beyond the standard duration IPRS recipients need to:
Step 1 Renew the premium themselves. For scholarships commenced:
- from 2004 onwards, this may be done by visiting the Student Self Service Centre (Student Health Services, 138 Cardigan St, Carlton) or via the OSHC Worldcare website or;
- before 2004, OSHC can be renewed via the Medibank Private (OSHC) website or at a Medibank branch (ring 132 331 for locations).
Step 2 Seek reimbursement from the Melbourne Scholarships Office (where the IPRS has also been extended) by:
- completing a MS07 Overseas Student Health Care (OSHC) form and;
- submitting the form and original receipts to the Melbourne Scholarships Office.
