Harbison-Higinbotham Research Scholarship
The Harbison-Higinbotham Research Scholarship is available to candidates undertaking graduate research degree studies in the areas of history, sociology, economics, politics, government and administration.
Number
One Harbison-Higinbotham Research Scholarship will be awarded for commencement of studies in 2012.
Benefits and conditions
- A living allowance (ie. stipend) at the value of the net income of the fund for that year (typically $22,000 per annum) for a maximum of 3 years (ie. no extension is possible).
- Other benefits as per the Melbourne Research Scholarship (MRS). Please note that while the scholarship provides paid sick, maternity, parenting and family leave as per the MRS, it is not possible to extend the tenure of the scholarship beyond 3 years.
Eligibility criteria
The eligibility criteria are the same as for the Fay Marles Scholarship.
Selection criteria
Selection of the FMS is primarily based on three main criteria: personal circumstance, academic merit, and strength of the supporting documents.
Application process
The application process is the same as for the Fay Marles Scholarship. All eligible FMS applicants will be considered for the Harbison-Higinbotham Research Scholarship.Application outcome

The FMS selection meeting will take place in late January. Applicants will be advised via email by mid-February of the outcome of their FMS application.
