Commonwealth Scholarships in the United Kingdom

The University of Melbourne has received advice from the Commowealth Scholarships Commission indicating that students from Australia will not be able to apply for a Commonwealth Scholarship for study in the United Kingdom for 2009 and beyond. Unfortunately the British Government has withdrawn support for the Commonwealth Scholarships for citizens from developed countries, including Australia. Commonwealth Scholarship recipients who commenced in 2008 will not be affected by these changes.
We encourage you to investigate alternative travelling scholarship oppotunites and seek other funding offered in addition to the funding offered by the Graduate Research Scholarships Office.
