Closing dates and selection timelines for local students

The table shows the key dates that relate to the award of the following scholarships: APA, MRS, FMS, HRS and the prestigious and other major scholarships*.

Application closing dates for local students are shown in red.

Applicants can view the status of their applications at any time on SCHOLS.

Timeline for international scholarship applications (e.g. IPRS, MIRS and MIFRS)

31 October

Application closing date for APA, FMS, HRS and prestigious (and other major) scholarships.
To be eligible for scholarship consideration the completed application form and all of the required documents must be lodged by this date (if 31 October falls on a weekend, you may submit your required documents the next working day but you must complete and submit your application on SCHOLS by midnight (AEST) on 31 October).
Applications completed and submitted after 31 October will only be considered for any MRSs that remain at the time the application is assessed#.
Until 13 November 2009

Melbourne Scholarships Office (MSO) completes initial assessment of applications
13 November 2009

Applications sent to academic departments for advice
24 November 2009

Academic departments return the applications to the MSO
Early December 2009

Graduate Research Scholarships Committee assess the applications
10 December 2009 onwards

MSO sends initial scholarship offer letters
(almost all APAs are offered in mid-December)
18 December 2009 onwards

Prestigious and other major scholarships offers made
18 December 2009 onwards Date by which the MSO will send a letter to all applicants who applied by 31 October to advise them of the current status of their application.
8 January 2010

Date by which applicants must accept or decline scholarship offers made in December 2009
End January 2010

FMS and HRS offers made
January-July 2010

MRS offers continue to be made as advice is received from the faculties
31 March 2010

Latest normal commencement date for APA recipients
May 2010 Majority of applicants on the scholarship waiting list will be notified of their success or otherwise from the end of April

# The assessment of applications received after 31 October may take between 4-8 weeks depending when the application is received.  Applicants will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible.
